who competed at the State Finals for a chance to represent
New Jersey
at the Poetry Out Loud National Finals in Washington, D.C.
State Champion, Kristin Tsuo of The Lawrenceville School
She receives $200, a $75 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble, and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete for the National Finals. The state winner's school receives a $500 stipend for the purchase of poetry books.
State Runner-Up, Clarissa Lotson of West Orange High School
She receives $100, a $25 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble, and $200 for his or her school library.
